Huntington Beach, Calif. – Sophomore Alvin Truong led the Rustlers past the Palomar Comets in five sets (25-15, 22-25, 25-15, 20-25, 15-11). Truong tallied 17 kills, including a service ace, in the winning effort to split the season series 1-1.
The match saw teams trading set wins until Golden West clinched the match in set five, winning 15-11 to win the match, 3-2.
Freshman libero Daniel Vasquez had a strong defensive outing with 15 digs while freshman middle blocker Tyler Peck added a solo block and two block assists.
Lenzie Ainsworth had a solid all-around performance with nine kills, four digs, and both a solo block and block assist. Freshman middle blocker Taivasa Alama clipped an impressive .455 (5-of11) hitting mark with five kills and a service ace.
