Huntington Beach, Calif. - The Golden West men's soccer program cruises in their home opener 4-0 as they hosted MiraCosta Friday afternoon.
Diego Ortiz got Golden West on the board in the 21st minute with the assist from the keeper Luis Adrian-Covarrubias. Just as the half was coming to an end, Victor Orozco nets his first goal of the season with the assist from Anthony Garcia. The Rustlers took a 2-0 lead into halftime. In the 73rd minute Ricky Briseno netted his second goal of the season on an assist from Christopher Ayala for a comfortable 3-0 lead. Marcus Gonzalez then added his first goal of the season in the 86th minute on a rebound shot to give Golden West the 4-0 victory.
The defense was stout allowing only four shots on the afternoon to give keeper Adrian-Covarrubias a lite afternoons workout.
Golden West will be back in action on Tuesday, Sepetember 9th in a matchup against Compton at 3:30pm.
