Hegamin and and Pereyda Shine at OCC Classic with Top Finishes and State Mark
COSTA MESA, Calif. – The Golden West College women's track and field team delivered an impressive performance at the Orange Coast College Classic on Friday, March 13, highlighted by a state qualifying mark, top-three finishes, and multiple personal bests.
Freshman standout Lowyn Pereyda led the Rustlers with an outstanding effort in the 800 meters, placing 3rd overall with a time of 2:22.00. The mark not only meets the CCC State "A" Standard, but also ranks her 2nd in the Orange Empire Conference, solidifying her as one of the top middle-distance runners in the region.
In the sprints, Sarah Hegamin turned in a breakthrough performance in the 400 meters, earning a 2nd place finish while setting a personal best time of 1:04.39.
The Rustlers also saw improvement in the field events, as Annie Turetskaya recorded a personal-best throw of 8.20 meters in the shot put, continuing the team's trend of growth and development.
