Rustlers Women’s Soccer Opens 2025 Season at LA Pierce
Huntington Beach, Calif. — The Golden West College women's soccer team kicks off the 2025 season today, Tuesday, August 26, with a 6 p.m. road matchup at LA Pierce. After finishing the 2024 campaign with a 7-10-2 record (5-8-1 OEC), the Rustlers return a strong core of experienced players ready to lead a large freshman class into a new year.
In goal, sophomore Sierra Carter is back after starting 14 matches last fall, where she posted 66 saves, a .805 save percentage, and three shutouts. She will be joined by fellow returning goalkeeper Tessa Wenzel, giving the Rustlers depth and experience between the posts.
The defensive unit features several key returners, including Jada Overton, Josie Armenta, and Mia Hillman. Giana Ortenzo also returns after making 15 starts in 2024, bringing toughness and leadership with this years defensive group.
In the attack, Kaylee Gomez will be counted on to provide creativity and scoring punch after finishing with three goals and an assist last year. She'll be supported by Jocelyn Heredia and Brianna Guerrero who each gained key experience during their freshman seasons.
The sophomore group will be complemented by a large and talented incoming class, including defender Kiersten Mahan, midfielder Rylee Schneider and forward Sarah Aguilar, among others.
The Rustlers home opener will Friday September 5, 2025 against LA Harbor at 1pm.
