Baseball Suffers Growing Pains in Loss
Visalia, Calif. – Golden West College (0-3) baseball team started their trip up north with a 6-4 loss to host College of the Sequoias (3-0).
Visalia, Calif. – Golden West College (0-3) baseball team started their trip up north with a 6-4 loss to host College of the Sequoias (3-0).
The Rustlers started out slow offensively in the first two innings of the game but a leadoff double by Jeff Zordani(2 for 4, run scored) supplied the spark in the top of the third inning. Jeremiah Vison(1 for 5, 2 RBI) would cash in on the scoring opportunity with a RBI single to score Zordani as Golden West would take a 1-0 lead. Sequoias would answer right back in the bottom of the third thanks to a solo home-run by Sagun Gainey to even the score at 1-1.
Then the growing pains hit in the bottom of the seventh inning as the Rustlers would commit seven errors that led to five runs on two hits for Sequoias to take a 6-1 lead. The offense would respond in the top of the eighth inning on a Myles Moran (2 for 3, 2 RBI) two out, two RBI single to cut the lead to 6-3.
Golden West would score another run in the top of the ninth before the Sequoias secured the win 6-4.
