Huntington Beach, Calif. - Opportunities were in abundance for the Golden West women's soccer team as they keep firing shots at the Irvine Valley College goalie in the 1-0 Orange Empire Conference opening victory.
Golden West (4-2-1, 1-0) put up 11 shots on the afternoon and kept the pressure on the Irvine Valley's (3-4-2, 0-1) defense. It was a lot of bending but just couldn't break through. That is until Chrystine Tapia netted the lone goal for the Rustlers in the 78th minute on a crossing pass that went through the Lasers goalie from Jackie Rodriguez.
The Rustlers will be on the road next on Friday, October 4th when they kickoff against the reigning conference champs Santiago Canyon College.
