GWC Swimming Hosts Invite
A total of 9 teams traveled to Golden West for their annual invite, with a Rustler finishing first in 10 of the 16 events.
Huntington Beach, Calif. - A total of 9 teams traveled to Golden West for their annual invite, and the defending State Champion Men's team swam away with a decided victory. A Rustler finished first in 10 of the 16 events, and the men captured the top 4 spots in two events.
Golden West kicked off the meet with freshman Davit Sikharulidze taking first place in the 500 Yard Freestyle (4:43.89). Next to win for the Rustlers was Loai Tashkandi in the 50 yard Breaststroke; his time of 26.37 barley beat out teammate Jeremy Grden who touched second in 26.95 seconds.
The Men would then move on to take first place in the next 3 events with Daniel Roa in the 100 yard Backstroke (56.63), Dylan Alba in the 50 yard Freestyle (21.80) and the 200 yard Medley Relay with Roa, Tashkandi, Sikharulidze and Alba finishing in 1:37.67. The team would also go on to win the 400 yard Medley Relay in 3:37.87.
Dominating the 50 yard Butterfly, Golden West took first through fifth place, with the fastest times going to Casey Klipsich (24.14), Sikharulidze (24.15), and Alba (24.82). The men would own the top again in the 100 yard Invidivual Medley, Tashkandi taking first with a time of 53.84, followed by Grden (54.00) and Josh Morgan (56.72).
The final win for the day would be the 400 yard Free Relay, swam by Alba, Tommy Cornes, Grden and Sikharulidze in 3:13.02.
