Rustlers Own the Water
Men's swimming finished in first place with 951.5 points at the Finals Meet Friday at the Golden West pool. Rustlers took first place in 10 events, and dominated the 50 yard freestyle event, taking first place through 5th.
Huntington Beach, Calif. - Men's swimming finished in first place with 951.5 points at the Finals Meet Friday at the Golden West pool. This was their last event before hosting the Orange Empire Conference Championships, to be held at home April 18th - 20th.
Rustlers took first place in 10 events, and dominated the 50 yard freestyle event, taking first place through 5th.
The 200 yard medley relay was won by Daniel Roa, Josh Morgan, Casey Klipsich and Ari Marks with a combined time of 1:39.94. Roa, Morgan, Klipsich and Fletcher Norseen combined their efforts for the win in the 400 yard Medley Relay, their time was 3:41.95
In the 1650 yard freestyle, Ian Wheeler took first (16:11.89) and Sophomore David Jorth took second (16:49.48). Wheeler also finished first in the 400 yard Ind. Medley with a time of 4:20.89, teammate Morgan finished the event in 4:29.90 for second place.
Daniel Roa touched first in the 200 yard Freestyle with a time of 1:46.78 and third place went to Jack Blake (1:50.62)
The 200 yard Backstroke found Garrett Pickford in second place with a time of 2:06.07
Rustlers owned the top 5 spots in the 50 yard Freestyle, with Fletcher Norseen in first (21.36), Dylan Alba (21.97) for second, third went to Ari Marks (22.13), Tommy Cornes took fourth (22.46) and Jack Blake finished fifth, with just over 1 second's difference (22.67).
The men's team also finished first, second and third in the 100 yard Freestyle. Norseen took first again with 48.33, Alba's time was 48.91 for second, and Ari Marks took third with 48.96. Juan Felipe took second place in the 500 yard Freestyle, his time was 5:05.20.
Klipsich finished the 200 yard Butterfly in 2:03.88 for another first place for Golden West. In the 200 yard Breaststroke, Morgan took third, his time was 5:25.57
The 200 yard Free Relay was won by Marks, Alba, Jorth and Norseen in a quick 1:28.18. The 800 yard Free Relay found Golden West in first and second place. The first place team finished in 7:14.53, Wheeler, Roa, Jorth and Norseen swam for first. The second place team included Morgan, Bkae, Sean Grab and Robert Schatz, their time was 7:44.40.
The Rustlers will swim for the Orange Empire Conference Championships and hope to oust the reining Orange Coast.
