Huntington Beach, Calif. - Golden West guard John Stillgess had a good look from beyond the three point line to take the lead with eight seconds left but it hit off the front of the rim as the Ruslters fall 68-66 to Santa Ana College.
In the thiller the Rustlers had three score in double figures while holding the Dons to 41% shooting. Eric Watson and Justin Kirksey led Golden West in scoring as they each netted 16 points and Christian Anderson chipped in 11 points in the loss.
Santa Ana held a slim one point lead at halftime 31-30 and managed to do the same in the second half to barely beat the Rustlers at home 68-66. Golden West won the turnover battle 19-13 but lost the points in the paint game 42-28 as the Rustlers were out rebounded on night.
NEXT: Golden West will host inter-district rival Orange Coast College Friday, January 17th for a 5pm start.
