Bio
Coach Derrick Watkins is a local product of Marina High School and former GWC standout.
While playing at Marina, Watkins was named an All-Sunset League, All-Orange County and All-CIF selection. As a defensive end for the Rustlers in 1988 and ’89, Watkins established what was then the school record for sacks in one season, 10 in 1989. His performances that season earned him All-Mission Conference, All-State and and All-America honors.
Watkins then spent the next two seasons lining up on the defensive line for the Missouri Tigers receiving All-Big 8 selection in 1990.
