Golden West’s Nick Mitchell Named SCFA National Central League Coach of the Year

Golden West College Football Head Coach Nick Mitchell has been selected the Southern California Football Association (SCFA) National Central League Coach of the Year after leading the Rustlers to a historic regular season.

Mitchell's 2025 Golden West squad recently completed a perfect 10-0 run through its 2025 schedule and ended the regular season as the No. 1-ranked team in the state.

The Rustlers went 6-0 in the National Central League to capture Mitchell's second league championship (2021, 2025) and sixth in program history.

Golden West will be making its second Southern California Regional Playoffs appearance under Mitchell this season. The Rustlers are the No. 1 seed for the playoffs and earned an opening-round bye. Golden West will host a SCFA semifinal game on Nov. 29 against the winner of No. 5 Cerritos College (8-2) and No. 4 Ventura College (9-1).
