Santa Ana, Calif. – The Rustlers fall in the final seconds.
After recovering the opening on-side kick, Golden West took five minutes to drive the ball 38-yards, converting two fourth downs giving the Rustlers the opening score. Dupree Roberts-Jordan 's 15-yard run to the end zone gave Golden West a much-needed jump-start.
The Dons defense could not stop the Rustlers from scoring again in the second quarter. A 15-play, 67-yard drive gave Ruben Ortega the 1-yard run to give the Rustlers a more comfortable lead, 14-0.
After half time, the Dons came out strong with Areseo Lakey leading the charge, and by the end of the third quarter, the Dons found themselves up 21-14.
Golden West was still hungry for a victory as they opened the fourth quarter with a 6-yard touchdown run by Roberts-Jordan to tie the game 21-21. With just 27 seconds left on the game clock, Santa Ana found the end zone one more time securing the victory for the Dons.
