Rustlers Edge Lasers 2-1
Irvine, Calif. - Despite being out hit by Irvine Valley College (14-7, 2-2) 9-4, Golden West (10-9, 2-2) pulled out a 2-1 win on Tuesday afternoon in the first game of an Orange Empire Conference series.

Golden West scored two runs in the top of the third thanks to a couple lead off walks and a Louie Conjura single that would plate Ryan Carpenter. The Rustlers scored their second run on a bad pick off move by IVC's starting pitcher Austin Reynolds that sailed into centerfield allowing Jeremiah Vison to score from third and give a 2-0 lead.
Golden West sophomore left-hander Taylor Franzman earned the tough win. He gave up one run on nine hits and one walk in seven innings. Franzman (5-3) had two strikeouts.
Reynolds, 3-1 took his first loss for Irvine Valley. He went eight innings and gave up two runs on four hits and three walks with five strikeouts.
Adam Moses pitched two scoreless innings to pick up the save for the Rustlers.
Irvine Valley scored its run in the bottom of the sixth inning when Adam Gaynor singled through the right side. The hit scored Cole Joy, who had singled to lead off the inning.
Golden West improved to 10-9 overall and 2-2 in conference.
