Aliso Viejo, Calif. - The Golden West women's track and field team opened the 2019 season with their first meet at Soka University.
The day was highlighted with a pair of shot putters starting with the seventh place finish for Alexis Defries Anderson with a final throw of 9.17 meters. Amanda Robles wasn't too far behind with a ninth place finish as she recorded a long throw of 9.06 meters.
In the 60 meter hurdles Diana Giraldo finished 11th for the Rustlers with a time of 11.37 and teammate Arissa Guerrero finished 13th with a time of 11.45. Then in the 60 meter dash Ana Sofia Rodriguez ran a 8.70 to a 11th place finish as teammate Kelly Esquivel finished two spots after her in the 13th with a time of 8.91. Continuing with the sprints, Giraldo finished 12th in the 200 meter dash with a time of 28.35 and Guerrero earned a 30.30 finish for 16th place.
In the one mile run Susana Isidoro finished in the eighth place with a time of 6:32.10. Next up was the long jump event, Esquivel finished with a 4.64 meter best for twelfth place and teammate Rodriguez finished in 14th with a distance of 3.99 meters.
Next: Golden West will travel to Riverside City College for the Orange Empire Conference Preview with a 1pm start.
