Rustlers Take 6th Place At State Championships

Norwalk, Calif. - Golden West College takes 6th places in the 2012 CCCAA State Championships.  Sophmore Jaci Powell repeated as heptathlon champion with 5,191 points, topping Shanice Stewart of San Bernardino Valley (4,965) by 226 points. 

Powell, whose father is the brother of American discus throw record breaker Suzy Powell, increased her national lead in the event FROM 5,024 points. Powell won last year with 4,796 points. She was one of the meet's top all around performers, also finishing second in the long jump and fourth in the 100 hurdles (14.17).

Her sister Juli Powell was sixth in the pole vault at 11-5 3/4 (same as third place but had more misses).

Natasha Caldwell was silver in the Javelin at 41.53m (136-03).
