Suzy Brazney, a 19-time ASA All-American, member of three Pan-American Games teams (2 gold and 1 silver), one Gold medal World Championship team and 3 ASA National Championship Teams. She also competed for a spot on both the 1996 and 2000 Olympic Teams. She was a member of the Selection Committee that picked the 2004 Olympic Gold Medal Softball Team.
Since 2005, “ Braz” has been a member of the USA softball coaching pool. In 2006-07 she served as an assistant coach for the USA Jr. National team that won Gold medals at the Jr. Pan Am games in Puerto Rico and Gold at the Jr. World Championships in Holland. In 2009 Brazney was the assistant coach for the USA National Team that won the Gold at the Japan Cup in Sendai, Japan. In 2010-11 she was again an assistant coach for the USA Jr. National team that won Gold medals at the Jr. Pan Am games in Columbia and the Jr. World Championships in Capetown, South Africa. Most recently, she assisted the USA National team in the Pan Am qualifier in Puerto Rico, where the team won the Gold Medal.
Brazney was inducted into the ASA Hall of Fame in November 2010. Additionally, her likeness is depicted on the 1996 Olympic Commemorative Stamp.
As a collegiate player at Cal Poly Pomona, Brazney was a two time NCAA All American and Broderick Award Nominee and was inducted into Cal Poly’s Hall of Fame in 1994.
Suzy continues to play softball, but now takes to the field with her senior women’s small ball teams. Her “ALL IN” 50+ team won gold medals at all the prestigious tournaments in 2014, one of which qualified them for the 2015 Senior Olympics, to be held in July in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Suzy begins her 28th season at Golden West College with sites set for a conference and state championship in 2015!
