Athletic Training

Athletic training is conducted by certified athletic trainers (ATC). The ATC is educated and skilled in all aspects of sports health care including prevention, recognition, immediate management, and rehabilitation of athletic injuries.

The mission of the GWC athletic training staff is first and foremost the care of the student-athlete. GWC sponsors 15 California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) sports and we are committed to the total well being of all the student-athletes participating in these sports. We strive to provide the highest quality of medical care within the limits of our resources, minimizing liability and maximizing the playing time and quality of performance in any given venue. We serve as liaisons between coaches, parents, doctors, athletes, and administrators.

The GWC certified athletic training staff consist of two full-time athletic trainers. Our staff athletic trainers are responsible for ensuring that quality of care is provided to all student-athletes at GWC. We are skilled in the latest techniques of prevention, care, and rehabilitation of athletic injuries. We also manage administrative duties including medical referrals, insurance billing, student development, pre-participation physical exams, and public relations.
